A reminder that the programmers that start (F)OSS are rarely good at UI/UX, and that UI/UX designers can rarely start creating software without programmers. I think great (F)OSS tends to be opinionated, mature, and has gone through that rude awakening of "wait, do/I we suck at UI/UX?"
GIMP is objectively unintuitive and also can’t parse text layers of PSDs properly, it’s designed by FOSS people that have never created tools for professionals. Telling someone to use it for their job is like saying you can make a feature on iMovie. Technically true but not serious.

if you find GIMP hard to use you probably shouldn't be allowed to drive a car or shop at a grocery store. it's literally just buttons with pictures on them that do the things the pictures represent. you don't even need to be able to read.
