On April 4, 2025, a Russian Iskander missile struck a childrenโs playground in Kryvyi Rih.
Matvii was there alongside other children and civilians. During the missile attack, his mom shielded him with her own body. She was killed, saving her sonโs life.
Matvii lost an arm.
