across the cognitive sciences, there has been a recent emphasis on *interaction* in studies of behavior. here, we take the implications of this shift seriously.

we integrate research across philosophy of mind, developmental psychology, social neuroscience, neurophysiology, and neuroecology to put forward a social-first perspective on behavior and cognition. this explanatory reversal has big implications for theory, empirical research, AI, & social practice!
our new paper makes concrete the links between edge time series and the interaction term in glms.
this lets us have brain activity and connectivity compete for the same variance to predict time-varying behavior!
turns out sometimes you really do need connectivity to understand behavior 🧠
also i am giving two different talks! (did i mention this is my favorite conference?)
first is at the the FRIENDS satellite on some of my phd work with multilayer networks.
second is friday afternoon in the brain networks session, where i’ll talk about the super cool work i’ve done in my postdoc
this paper leverages contemporary philosophy to motivate and outline social-first approaches, but stay tuned for a follow-up paper that provides a methodological framework to apply these ideas to scientific research! we’re aiming to have the preprint out in the next month or so :)
