In addition to the panels and reading, AHP staff will be selling our poetry titles in the main reading room on the second floor of the library!
The 12 winning stories are selected by a committee of 3 judges. The winning writers each receive a $2,000 cash prize, and their winning stories will be published by Autumn House Press in the annual anthology, Best Debut Short Stories: The PEN America Dau Prize.
A wonderful Pittsburgh visit from Meredith Nnoka, author of LES PORTES! Meredith was joined by Cameron Awkward-Rich, our 2025 CAAPP Book Prize judge, for a reading and conversation at the University of Pittsburgh. Meredith then conducted a lively poetry workshop at the PGH Book Fest. #PGHBookFest
Every year, the PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize for Emerging Writers recognizes 12 emerging writers for their debut short story published in a literary magazine, journal, or cultural website, and aims to support the launch of their careers as fiction writers.
Winner of the 2025 CAAPP Book Prize and published by AHP, Meredith's LES PORTES traces how harm against women and femmes takes root, recurs, and reshapes itself across generations. @autumnhouse.org
- 11:30 AM: AHP Editor in Chief Christine Stroud on the panel “Learning about Pittsburgh Publishing.”
- 2 PM: AHP poet Meredith Nnoka will read from her debut collection LES PORTES.
- 4 PM: Meredith will lead a poetry workshop, “Centos in Solidarity.”
