Thanks D-BIOL for highlighting our recent @natcomms.nature.com paper on intracellular Salmonella virulence. We hope these strains will be a useful resource for the field!

Excited to be traveling to New Hampshire USA for the GRC Salmonella meeting, looking forward to some great discussion. But, since I'm traveling on Swiss National Day, first a quick farewell Raclette 🇨🇭 🧀 🥂
We're happy to share this new toolset with anyone interested in exploring how SPI-2 effectors contribute to virulence. Thanks to everyone who supported this story!
Happy to share our latest preprint: CRISPR base editors are a powerful tool for multiplexed gene editing in bacteria, but they also induce a range of off-target edits, and we show this can have a big impact on clonal fitness during infection. Online now! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Great to be back down under for the annual pilgrimage, this time bouncing across Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide 🌲☀️🌊
Really nice to be back on the beach for Lorne Infection & Immunity. Thanks to the organisers for a great meeting and the chance to share our work. Lorne was my first ever conference when I was a young student, and it's great to see the community going strong #lorneiandi
Excited to share our latest work, where we create Salmonella mutants deficient for cohorts of SPI-2 T3SS effectors. These strains can be used to efficiently identify particular effectors that contribute to SPI-2 phenotypes doi.org/10.1038/s414...
Great week of science in New Hampshire at the Salmonella GRS/GRC. Thanks to the chairs for their hard work. Really nice to see a strong Aussie cohort here too. Looking forward to 2027!

Many of you in #AcademicBsky in the northern hemisphere might not know the dire state of Australian academia. This essay by Andrew Dean is a fair snapshot of the state of the sector. Thinking today especially of academics in some Aus unis facing mass job cuts ~ 3,000 jobs on the chopping block now.
