Even at the pundit level, if what you want is a party that hates trans people and women, that valorizes a kind of rural white masculinity, and that organizes around contempt for all things urban, educated, and liberal… well, they already have that, and maybe you should just be on the side you’re on.
This is an important distinction that the headline writers longing to grab your attention aren't making: Elon only has a trillion dollars for the purposes of dodging taxes.
Oh, he has access to a lot of funds, certainly. But dubbing him a trillionaire based on stock valuation is nonsensical.
He both does and doesn't have a trillion dollars.
The *valuation* of his shares puts his net worth at a trillion dollars, but that valuation can fluctuate (and deflate entirely).
This does allow him to take out tax-dodging loans based on said valuation, but he'll never hold a trillion in the bank.
