“We call upon all sides to implement the ceasefire, including in Lebanon.” A key and important sentence in a welcome joint statement from our government, European countries, Canada and Japan.
Criminal justice cooperation with our partner countries is a vital part of keeping our citizens safe and ensuring criminals face justice. Yesterday, I was pleased to sign a new agreement with Latvia to improve prisoner transfers. This follows upon a similar agreement struck with Italy last month.

Starting the day in Birmingham, speaking to Youth Justice leaders at the annual @_YJB conference. @DavidLammy and I determined to modernise and transform our youth justice system to better prevent crime, reduce reoffending and turn around young lives. 🌹
Successful leaders do not use their platform to divide, but to bring people together to face our collective challenges. The current MP for Clacton doesn’t get this. That is why we will work tirelessly to make the positive case to defeat him. 🌹

Great to chat to GB News about the government’s work on Men and Boys. And a bit about why I’m passionate about amplifying this cause (and when I last cried!). We talked about GarethSouthgate's documentary on young men, which millions have been watching. And the issues facing young men today.

Rehabilitation must be at the heart of the youth justice system. This will turn around young lives and better protect our communities. Punishment that works. Important to learn from other systems as we develop our modernisation programme. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home...
13,000 children are sentenced in our courts each year. 33% of them go on to reoffend. The youth court was an important change. But now it’s time to look again at its approach and effectiveness from first principles. @lawsocietygazette.bsky.social www.lawgazette.co.uk/commentary-a...
Victims must be at the heart of our justice system. Working with @alexdaviesjones.bsky.social and @elliereeves.bsky.social we have delivered this important change to the sentencing scheme - which better ensures victim voices will be heard. @theguardian.com www.theguardian.com/law/2026/apr...

Labour can very legitimately be criticised on many fronts, but pretty depressing to see the Guardian seemingly suggest that cracking down on dirty foreign money being laundered into UK politics through crypto - which is objectively in the national interest - is a political move just to spite Reform.
