#OTD 10 June 1943. #WW2 Laubach, Germany. Secret anti-nazi resister, Friedrich Kellner has seen the Italian press reports on the Allied attacks on Pantelleria. They claim 'strong coastal defence ... in no way being defeated'.
He includes this clip in his secret diary [My Opposition, p 246]
#OTD 10 June 1943. #WW2 Today in Germany General Martin Harlinghausen is relieved of his command of Fleigercorps II (2nd Air Corps). We think Harlinghausen had been the Luftwaffe senior officer at the Ennejma Ezzahra Palace in Tunisia between November 1942 - January 1943.

He re-writes his will, in case he has to flee the country, but is confident he will get his Italian citizenship.

Their crime: 'premature and excessive anti-fascism'.

Thanks @crusaderproject.bsky.social for this post. I am pretty sure that Leo d’Erlanger then CHAIRMAN of Erlanger Bank (of the Ennejma Ezzahra Palace in Sidi Bou Said … and of Upper Grosvenor in Mayfair) was involved in the development of Mulberry Harbours. I think I have this on tape from 1975.
