One of Israel's most important beliefs vis a vis the region today is that it has the innate right, the right, to bomb any of its neighbors as it sees fit as a "preemptive" "defensive" measure. If the Iranians are able to respond to such "measures" vis a vis Beirut, then this right has collapsed.
