➕ Getting technology in the right hands is key to making the most of the opportunity the #BTIP presents - with credible data and diverse knowledge supporting effective implementation.
More to come post-Bonn, but for now a huge thank you to all involved for such a motivating, practical discussion.
➕ Implementation doesn’t mean the dialogue is over. The BTIP will succeed by asking what's needed before decisions are made, not afterwards - reaching new territories and new voices, and ensuring indigenous and local knowledge is genuinely integrated.
➕ Technology can simultaneously address and exacerbate inequalities. The global #climatecommunity must be thoughtful and attuned to this tension, setting measurable indicators early on to understand impact, with the humility to course-correct.
A few things that stayed with us:
➕ Open DPI levels the playing field, but deployment has to be intentional. Capacity building, co-creation of solutions, and clear KPIs from the outset are as important as the technology itself.
Want to know how to maximise impact by keeping your data systems boring, so you can use your data in more exciting ways?
This Sunday, three of our data engineering team Fred O'Loughlin, @kaparker.bsky.social, & Mark Cottam will be making the case for boring tech @pydatalondon.bsky.social.
When we say boring we mean: consistent, observable, & easy to change 💯. Join them for lessons learned & practical advice you can take back to your own data flows: pretalx.com/pydata-london-2026/talk/AMGUEK/

Implementation, financing, policy coherence, participation - core themes echoing through conversations at #SB64.
Yesterday, we co-hosted a side event on DPI & the Belém Technology Implementation Programme, exploring how to make sure technology solutions actually unlock climate action on the ground.
