S2 E6 of Rivals is really something - impressive plotting, drawing together the previous 5 eps; Laura's Wade's script -- funny and sexy and desperate and deeply emotional; direction that doesn't get a shot wrong; and all set against the dark night of the October 1987 Great Storm.

So interesting that the series which started out as larky and caricatured has now developed its characters and story strands into something far richer and more complex, albeit without losing any of the fun.
