#OnThisDay June 12 2018: First noticed by @mprnews.org employees, the "MPR Raccoon" causes a worldwide media sensation when it climbs 22 stories up UBS Plaza in downtown St Paul MN. Rescuers capture the animal from the roof the next morning and release it at an undisclosed location.
I appreciate that this is the sole item Oregon included. (Minnesota only included a governor proclamation and a state flag)

It is hard, as a Minnesotan, to see the resources expended on the arrests and charges here and at Cities Church while officers who shot and killed our community members continue to walk free. To know that immigration enforcement has billions of dollars while folks in community struggle to pay rent.

there's a time capsule for america 250, and the library of congress included a "synthetic DNA capsule" that has 1 GB of various materials which I am quite certain no one will be able to access in 250 years, and some visitor notecards which will actually be useful

I know it's pointless to get mad at something Nicholas Kristof says but calling MN not very ideological (!!!) makes it clear he has not spent a significant amount of time here. This after what we were put through in Jan/Feb adds insult to injury. Once again he's better off not talking.
