A historic African-American Catholic parish once home to Homer Plessy, A. P. Tureaud, and Venerable Henriette DeLille has returned to in-church worship after successful fundraising and repair efforts to address catastrophic roof and wall damage.
The pioneering African-American polymath also co-authored MLK's "Beyond Vietnam" speech and became the first Black allied member of the New York Stock Exchange before entering academics in his later years.
