Heavy is the crown? 👑 The namesake "crown" of the grey crowned crane is actually a halo of stiff golden feathers that help these tall [and regal!] birds blend into tall grasses.

It's good to watch animals interact with enrichment items and be happy.
It's Butterflies in Bloom season at Zoo Boise! Our walkthrough greenhouse is full of vibrant Costa Rican butterflies.
Top tip: if you want a butterfly to land on you, wear brightly colored clothes. (Floral patterns work well, too!)

Why are boxes and paper sometimes in animal habitats? That’s enrichment!

The results are in: Meet Opal and Onyx! You officially named our African Cape porcupine sisters.
Inspired by the Gem State of Idaho (and possibly a Taylor Swift song), Opal and Onyx earned an impressive 51% of votes.
As nocturnal mammals, Opal and Onyx are currently adjusting to their new home.
