The bloody cage fight on our White House grounds is not a matter of culture. This travesty pisses on a country that committed itself to the virtue of self-governance--not turning it over to the highest bidder who stuffs the pockets of a deranged despot only interested in his own power, wealth & ego.

SpaceX’s IPO is the story of American capitalism in this Second Gilded Age.
The closer you look at the SpaceX IPO, the more it looks like Musk’s ill-fated DOGE and Trump’s takeover of the government.

SpaceX’s board of directors will have no meaningful authority.
There’s no accountability. No checks. No balances.

Starmer won't prevent far-right riots because he will not take on X. He won't ramp up defence in the face of Trump and Putin because he refuses to take hard financial decisions. He has failed to protect Britain against its enemies - foreign and domestic iandunt.substack.com/p/swirling-i...
The Knicks crush Wemby's dream, Trump runs away from Kristen Welker, and Maine voters must choose between two very flawed Senate candidates
Dead right. The point of great wealth isn't to buy a nice life - you can do that quite cheaply: chrisdillow.substack.com/p/trinkets-o... Billionaires become billionaires for other, maybe unpleasant, motives.
