Today in psychology, 8 June 1953, the American Psychological Foundation was formally established. It began with just $310 in early donations. By its 60th anniversary, the APF was awarding nearly $1 million in scholarships and grants to support psychology research. #psychology
Why do we sometimes get in our own way? Not because we want to fail. More often, self-defeating behavior gives us something in the short term, while the cost arrives later. My latest article looks at why these patterns repeat and how we can begin to interrupt them.
Today in the History of Psychology (6th June 1875), Grace Kent was born. A pioneer within the field of clinical assessment, Kent developed the Kent-Rosanoff Association Test; the first test of its kind to incorporate both standardized word association procedures and an 'objective' scoring system.
