Because California allows people to postmark ballots on the day of the election! The other option is to require votes to *arrive* by Election Day, a rule that would end up disenfranchising voters. Why is everyone pretending this is a huge problem?

Disregarding any conspiracy theory crap, other countries manage to produce accepted results within 24 hours using an entirely manual, paper ballot system (including mail in votes). Why does the most technologically advanced country take days or even weeks to come to even a contested conclusion?
