Spent a wonderful time in Shiretoko National Park conducting fieldwork alongside great people.
‪ 🌳 Do you want to contribute to research on how humans perceive forests? Take this quick, anonymous 10-min survey 🌲 👉 www.biodiful.org#/forest This will help us explore how people experience forest biodiversity! Please share on 🦋 & tag @biodiful.bsky.social to reach more participants 🙏💚 🌐🌍🦤🦑🪴🍁🧪
Many thanks to Drs. Akira Mori (@akkym.bsky.social), Shinichi Tatsumi and Xinyu Xu for the invitation to present at their Biodiversity and Ecosystem Functioning Symposium at the Ecological Society of Japan Annual Meeting in Kyoto. Wonderful to be part of such a great lineup of speakers! #ESJ73 #BEF
I'm looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join our group in Okinawa, Japan later this year/early next year. Area of research is wide open, and creative/unconventional projects are encouraged. Together, let's make ecology less of a mess! 📈📈📈 www.oist.jp/careers/okin... DM/email any questions!

#PostDoc Alert! PhD in #Biology or #EnvironmentalSciences? Strong background in #ForestEcology, DNA-based biodiversity assessments, #Bioinformatics, and experimental planning? Our #ForestEntomology Group offers a 2-year #PostDoc position 🌳🧬💻: apply.refline.ch/273855/1798/... #ScienceJobs #eDNA
As climate and disturbance regimes change, forest reorganization is key to maintain the forest carbon sink. Great new work led by @christinadollinger.bsky.social w/ @monicagturner.bsky.social, @akkym.bsky.social and many others. dx.doi.org/10.1029/2025...
New paper on metacommunity dynamics out! 📃🍁 Led by Oliver Mitesser we show that habitat heterogeneity shifts communities from patch-dynamics toward mass effects and species sorting using beetles as focal taxon. 🐞😍 @betafor.bsky.social @cofeuniwue.bsky.social onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....

I was in #Shiretoko NP for discussing science-driven ecosystem restoration. Many ECRs have contributed by collecting data and supporting the project. Nurturing both trees and people is essential for forest restoration, which can only be achieved through sustained long-term efforts.
