This 100% I was very dismayed to see this but of kabuki theatre from the PM. We seem unable to issue any form of condemnation of Trump, even when he offends the national moral consensus.

I get that Carney felt the need to praise this Iran deal as part of a general pivot at the moment to ingratiating himself with Trump. But I'm not sure a politician benefiting from an unusual amount of trust is best to use that capital telling the public stuff he can't possibly believe is true.
