I have said in various contexts that one of my goals is to be the aunt of everyone in speculative fiction, whether they're older than me or not. One of my role models for this goal has been Jane Yolen. I couldn't ask for better.
So much love and sympathy to her family.
I was so lucky to get to be on panels with Jane and hang out and talk shop with Jane and also stand back and watch her and Adam do the Jane And Adam Show, amazing in all its manifestations.

I now have files that say "4th Street 2026 panel notes" and "Readercon 2026 panel notes" so I am feeling pretty good about the summer actually.
We won't see another like her. We just won't. And part of that is that she had the strength and grace to value her children and grandchildren as uniquely themselves, and to value her literary descendants (some of whom are the same people) as themselves.
She was so warm and witty and wonderful.
