The current system is straining from the growth mindset (environmental and climate issues, global north-south divide, resource scarcity etc.), it is not enough to "get back to growth". We need to think how to change the way things work. We need transformations, but there isn't easy ones in sight 3/3

Not all is well in Germany. I see this as a larger issue for Europe and world: How to keep up democracy and universal rights in a world where growth is harder and harder to achieve (due to environmental and climate degradation). The old growth formulas don't work.1/n

Many climate models omit the permafrost carbon–climate feedback. In this new paper we show that inlcuding it can increase Earth system tipping risks, especially in overshoot scenarios with peak temperatures below 3°C or peak cumulative emissions of below 2000 PgC.
