Outside of formally organised events, if you have a crew just get together and Go Out!
Furry needs more, smaller events. Not just cons. Arts markets, one-off dance nights, pub nights, BBQs in the park and beach trips. Don't get too focused on the big giant conventions when there's a thriving community all around you! (And if there isn't, build one!)
