I've actually been mildly fascinated with the Al Carns project for a while. A thoroughly uncharismatic man who nevertheless has the definite air of "ex-soldier who has killed many times", which doesn't half excite the sort of labour party member who remains with them.
Even the more politics brained citizens of the UK would struggle to describe John Healey and Al Carns from memory.
Case in point: the guardian has misspelt his name as Cairns.
