Is Atlanta ready to build a new hospital? No. To expand transit? No. To end zoning segregation? No. To pave sidewalks? No. To fix broken water pipes? No. To sustain new businesses in South Downtown? God, I hope so. But the World Cup? Sure, those are just 8 normal event days in the stadium district.

A poll of 510 Georgia voters last week shows Keisha Lance Bottoms to be the clear favorite for governor. I would love for Georgia to have a Dem in the governor's mansion again! Unless you're over 30, you wouldn't recall the last time that happened. acrobat.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:...
Is Atlanta ready for the World Cup? Ridiculous question: It’s the ONLY thing we’re ready for after leaders spent decades displacing Downtown communities, replacing homes & businesses with parking lots, highways, hotels, convention centers & stadiums, and ceding public finance to private corporations
Check out the train arrivals for Civic Center Station (a half hour before ATL's first World Cup game). Trains are arriving every 2-4 minutes! It's a good reminder: if MARTA had more funding for operations, they could boost arrival times regularly. Also: the new MARTA app is nice!
Cyclists "may use full lane" on Ponce but they have to share it with drivers who do this damage. GDOT (this is a state route) says "traffic volume" prohibits protected bike lanes from being built here. So y'all please stop driving on Ponce so GDOT can't use that excuse anymore.

I've been to many public meetings where the organizer assumes everyone drove there -- telling jokes about traffic & parking, giving out parking vouchers -- with zero recognition that some of us didn't drive. And that windshield perspective influences everything.

Thank you for this, @jasondozier.bsky.social !
The Atlanta Community Press Collective – ACPC – has once again done the kind of investigative reporting any big city needs to really thrive. 1/2 @atlurbanist.bsky.social @danimmergluck.bsky.social @jtsphd.bsky.social @austinlouisray.bsky.social atlpresscollective.com/2026/06/09/a...
Note: MARTA received $73 million grant from the State of Georgia (some of that through federal funds) for World Cup readiness. I'm not sure how much of that grant is allowed for general operations expenses for train services, versus for security. civicatlanta.org/blog/2026-04...
