congrats to @mariellew.bsky.social @hdijkstra.bsky.social & all the other colleagues (oa @danishanley.bsky.social @posteurope.bsky.social Mario Daniels, Miles MacLeod & Guus Dix) involved in this upcoming consortium project on knowledge security: 1/x www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/news/maastri...
One of the PhD projects included in our new KNOWSEC-NL project, funded by NWO, will be historical in orientation: knowledge security in the late Cold War. So glad to have this line of research with @ccmmody.bsky.social included!
This project is an important step toward building a more nuanced and collaborative approach to knowledge security—one that reflects the complexity of today’s global research environment.
Addressing knowledge security requires close cooperation with societal partners, including policymakers, public institutions, and other stakeholders across the knowledge chain who are directly involved in navigating the tensions between openness and security in practice.
Looking forward to the work ahead with such a strong and diverse consortium, and in particular the collaboration with my excellent fellow lead applicants Hylke Dijkstra, Barend van der Meulen and Machiko Kanetake! Read more about the project in the press release:
Working together from the outset, we aim to ensure that our research is not only academically rigorous, but socially relevant and actionable. It will help us better understand real-world challenges and co-develop solutions that support the protection of sensitive knowledge and core academic values.

Very excited to share that we have been awarded a €6.6 million NWO grant for a research project on knowledge security, led by @fasosmaastricht.bsky.social. As co-applicant and work package lead on impact, I’m especially excited about the strong collaborative foundation of this project.
