An update on landslides from the 8 June 2026 M=7.8 earthquake offshore Mindanao in the Philippines. Sentinel 2 satellite imagery confirms many failures. At least 53 people were killed by landslides, representing more than half of the total number of fatalities.

Some cloud cover in the area but I see a couple of small landslides at 5.76090° N, 125.32912° E and some larger ones at 5.78691° N, 125.35501° E and 5.78810° N, 125.37070° E and surrounding areas

At least 12 people were killed in a landslide triggered by the M=7.8 earthquake near Mindanao in the Philippines this morning. The landslide location is reported to be New Aklan in Glan, Sarangani. New Aklan appears to be at 5.7705 N, 125.3356E. #earthquake #mindanao #philippines
