Yes this is a big deal! My in-laws, both of whom have mobility challenges, were surprised how much easier an Escape was to get in and out of than their Accords. I don’t think they’ll buy sedans again

One of the reasons is that taller hoods are more likely to cause serious injury. But also the bulkier frames themselves cause larger blindzones. The A-pillar, one of the pieces supporting the roof, can be big enough to fully hide a pedestrian, particularly during left-turns.
