First 3 combat interactions made, and just under 60 slides, but 20 of them are a single battle, because the more enemies I have on a single screen, the more slides I need to resolve it, as I need to account for every single order they could be taken down in.

Okay, so my hiatus is apparently just me posting things that would otherwise be too silly...
Here is me doing a let's play of the game I made entirely in LibreOffice!

Made entirely within LibreOffice Impress, because I am a silly goose.
Right now I have you picking up the weapon, then taking out 2 enemies.
It consists of 12 slides so far š.

I... might have started to see if I could recreate this...
I definitely remember how, and I just made a single room, where an enemy comes in and if you don't click on it in time, it is game over.
I will probably make a short level, with 2 different enemy types and weapons.
Maybe stealth?

The funny thing is, I did this 20+ years ago.
I wanted to see if I could make a shooter in PowerPoint, so I drew a lot of places seen from a first person perspective, then had enemies show up, that were hyperlinks.
If you clicked the enemy, it would link to the slide of that enemy being defeated.

My guess:
They hand drew every frame.
So every time you make a decision, it has to switch to an already drawn frame of you, in that place, doing that very thing.
