1/ The latest Winter Gull Survey revealed that over the two decades since the last count, the total number of gulls wintering in the UK has decreased from 3.9 million to just under 2.5 million! 📉 #Ornithology #Seabirds

3/ The news isn’t so positive for the brightly coloured Yellowhammer, with its ‘little bit of bread with no cheese’ song. It has declined by 75% across the country since the mid-1990s, which is very concerning.
2/ Skylark and Song Thrush have both shown significant signs of decline across Wales in recent years. However, both species are now showing some signs of recovery and increasing numbers.
1/ According to the 2025 @bbs-birds.bsky.social Report, three bird species with very well known songs are showing contrasting fortunes across Wales at the moment: Skylark, Song Thrush and Yellowhammer.
