Led by the incomparable Sanaa El-Sayed, a study out today in Science Advances throws open an important new window on marine fish diversity during the critical few million years following the K-Pg mass extinction. Below: artistic vision of the new fauna by Ian Baylatry.

Really happy to share I will be joining the Dept. of Anatomical Sciences at Stony Brook University this fall as an assistant professor!! My lab will focus on ray-finned fish neurocranial evolution, integrating fossils and living species. DM if you have interest in joining my new research group!
Quick question: Does anyone know (or have!) any good resources for dinosaur footprint shapes and stride lengths? Possibly more sketch than photo but I’ll take anything! Got an outreach plan cooking 🧑‍🍳
My new paper with @gdarlim.bsky.social and @hoehna.bsky.social is now out in Proceedings B! We set out to compare two different approaches to time-calibrate a molecular phylogeny: traditional node calibrations, and unresolved FBD... @royalsocietypublishing.org doi.org/10.1098/rspb...

New paper on the earliest Cretaceous Brazilian sauropod dinosaur Triunfosaurus, possibly the oldest known titanosaur, along with a new perspective on this clade's radiation, casting doubt on previous biogeographic proposals🦕(+ @ismarcarvalho.bsky.social): doi.org/10.1093/zool... @es-ucl.bsky.social

First paper of purely postdoctoral research published — Green crabs and climate change in North America rather than Titicaca Grebe and fisheries in the Andes. Rather different, but both interesting #biogeography #InvasionEcology #GlobalChangeBiology #fisheries doi.org/10.1007/s107...
One more day for #Botany2026 early registration rates!!!! Get on it.
