“What happens in Texas does not stay in Texas. The policies being implemented there are increasingly being proposed and replicated elsewhere.” — Todd Wolfson, AAUP President
Prof. Lina-Maria Murillo: “In August, the Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality at the University of Texas at Austin will close. I’ve been a member of this department since last year…I’m just one faculty member among hundreds across the country who are facing elimination of their programs.” 😡
🚨On the recent Vanderbilt report on the humanities: “the committee takes a…disturbing direction toward endorsing academic authoritarianism—the use of administrative power to seize control of academic departments + impose ideological standards on them in order to purge leftist scholars.”
🔔”The issues in Texas have been piling up over the last number of years, but they’ve accelerated in the last, I’d say, nine months,” AAUP national president Todd Wolfson said at a news conference Tuesday. He added that “because of that rapid acceleration…we felt like we had to act.” 👏👏
