I see a few people saying “stop talking about the algae, there are bigger deals” and yeah sure, but the fact that the White House *thinks* the Reflecting Pool is a bigger deal than war or the economy makes it a big deal—and it is both metaphor AND embodiment of our whole squalid government now 👇

Like a dung beetle’s ball rolling down a hill, the reflecting pool keeps picking up more layers. Incompetence, antiscience, corrupt
contracting, and now now the self-protective police state and sabotage conspiracy theories.
i think the reflecting pool has gone from “haha what a dumb ass” to “appointing a horse to the senate” level of story here
