I should add (for clarity) that these images are of MY SPOOF / PARABLE about overly excited TV naturalists. The BBC footage is the promo doing the rounds on Instagram.
Now reading "Infinite Life" by @juleshoward.bsky.social trying to answer the best question a kid I teach has ever asked me (one I can't believe I never asked myself) "Why did mammals evolve to not lay eggs?"

Good day to you. Do I know a good water beetle expert on here?
I'm sure the programme itself is tip-top, btw.
The BBC's current promo for TIGER ISLAND, featuring a TV naturalist stalking a tiger on foot, is giving me mild Huck Dangers vibes.
Wow, TWO books on the The Week Junior Book Awards shortlist? Yes please.
These are TOTAL and UTTER @nosycrow.bsky.social team books, so big cheers for Gavin Scott, Gordy Wright, Tina Garcia, Elizabeth Jenner, Tegen Evans and more.
Can't wait for the ceremony! (to stalk my writing heroes).
Tomorrow night - itโs @cheltenhamfestival.bsky.social time
The scrumptious @juleshoward.bsky.social & I will be discussing insects - what theyโre getting up to & should we pay attention?
(Yes obviously)
Come join us in what will be a lively discussion

Reminded by me 'ol pal @flygirlnhm.bsky.social last week that BLUEBOTTLES are out there doing a heck of a lot of pollinating, particularly on ivy, including on cooler days. The last image (too lewd?) shows the female's telescope-like ovipositor all neatly tucked away. Neat.
Feeling down? THEN LOOK DOWN. Literally, I mean turn your head downwards and have a look around. You might find something that lifts you right back up, like this gorgeous clear-wing moth, resting under leaves during a storm. #insects #wildlife #teammoth
