If you learn to cook and become your "team"'s dedicated cook, you can ask (and will usually get paid) overtime. It's a life hack that a lot of Slayers employ.

Bleak times: The Empire has very few famous artists, because most of them either die in obscurity, or get swallowed by the government. Swallowed as in, they're hired full time (therefore funded) to make their art for the crown, but get zero credit.
