Despite being by far the largest city in North Carolina, Charlotte only has the highest density within the gradient at 3-mile amongst NC cities:
Austin, Dallas, Houston population density gradients. Austin highest downtown/lowest citywide and metro, Houston highest at the other three geographic scales. Dallas lowest population density in downtown and greater downtown areas.
Austin, Houston, and Dallas Job Density gradients are virtually identical (Boston on there for comparison).
Fort Worth's density gradient (center to edge) is upside down:

Also Dallas Water deserves the reprimand for throwing everybody off the automatic payment system.
