Also important: being "in the game industry" can also mean plugging away at your personal projects while you get your money elsewhere. You're not any less of a dev if your work is "just" a hobby or a thing you do on the side.

I will say this much: there is zero shame in leaving the game industry. Be it because you're not finding your next role, or because you're tired of it and need a break. The industry doesn't deserve the people who work in it, and you owe it nothing.
