Team Katy was in attendance for the Hudspeth County Commissioners Court meeting in Sierra Blanca, Texas this morning.
We had the opportunity to hear members of the Sierra Blanca community share their concerns about construction taking place on private property without permission as part of efforts to build the wall. Today, residents came together with one message: NO THE THE WALL. 🚫 #NoBorderWall

The initial detection of screwworm was June 4th, 2026 in Zavala County, which is located here in the 23rd congressional district.

As of June 8th, 2026 there are now 5 confirmed cases in the U.S, with 4 of them being in Texas, of New World Screwworm. Three calves and one goat have been affected in Texas, along with one dog in Lea County, New Mexico.

We are closely monitoring this situation and will provide updates as new details and safety guidelines come about. Protecting our agricultural economy and our wildlife is protecting our way of life.
