Fascinated by everything to do with the natural world, though insects are my main focus. Paint a little. Deep in rural South Norfolk, UK https://www.youtube.com/@philipwilkins https://www.peregrineproductions.co.uk

Sorry - looks like Wicken autocorrected to Wickes 🤔 I don't think this moth frequents builder's merchants
This delightful little moth was the highlight of a trip to Wicken Fen, Cambridgeshire today A Silver barred #teammoth #wickenfen
On the edge of our meadow in south Norfolk
Turned out that it is only found at Wickes and nearby Chippenham Fens and a couple of other sites in Britain, with migrants turning up most years So we were really lucky to see a few of them

Always nice to find some Orange-tip caterpillars on Jack-by-the-hedge seed pods @norfolkbutterflies.bsky.social #caterpillar
For #worldbeeday, here is part of a watercolour plate I did for my laminated ID sheets www.peregrineproductions.co.uk Available from @nhbs.bsky.social
First Scarce Chasers are emerging from our pond in south Norfolk #dragonfly @britishdragonflies.bsky.social @norfolknats.bsky.social
I was really pleased to find this Soldierfly (the Black Colonel) Odontomyia tigrina on an alder tree by our pond It is apparently rare and localised South Norfolk @norfolknats.bsky.social @norfolkponds.bsky.social @dipteristsforum.bsky.social #flies #soldierflies
I wonder if any dipterists could help I believe that this is Stratiomys longicornis, but this species is supposedly from brackish waters This is in inland south Norfolk near a pond @dipteristsforum.bsky.social @uk-soldierflies.bsky.social @norfolknats.bsky.social #soldierfly #diptera
