This is a situation that deeply impacts children and families across Scotland, which is why we have been working to change it.
It took an incredible amount of courage for this woman to come forward and I will continue to fight with her for urgent reforms.
I spoke to STV News (clip at end of 🧵) about our work with a constituent who has been pushing for a change to the law after her ex-partner, who is convicted of a disgusting child sex offence, continued to have a legal presumption of access to her daughter.
It is disgraceful the Scottish Government has failed to address this and that Neil Gray refused to appear to even discuss the matter.
What a contrast to the bravery of the survivors who have shared their stories to make change.
When she asked the SNP Scottish Government for help, they told her no change was needed.
When I intervened, they told me the same despite similar protections being recently introduced in England and Wales.

Opening a Westminster Hall debate on national emergencies, @graemedowniemp.bsky.social argued that the UK must treat resilience as a constant, society-wide effort and be far more honest with the public about the scale of the threats it faces.
