America loves a Black, "ghetto to billionaire" story. Aspirational. Consumerism, the performance of the "American dream." White billionaire stories, different market. "Dropped out of Harvard" or "started in garage." Paths, intersecting at the corner of power, and rarefied air. It's a deal.
The fact that Bill Maher's show is one of HBO's Top 10 shows, weekly, is very telling.
For Trump, going after people, verbally or suing them, is rarely about the outcome. It's about the bump of the moment and the media play along. Very few people read the "Corrections," but they do remember the headlines. That's all he cares about. Power is about who will play along with the lie.
