Whilst local people and I are pleased that our petition and other campaigns have forced Reform-led Lancashire County Council (LCC) to keep the Derby Centre open - for now - we remain concerned about potential reduction in services for the longer term.

I’m excited to share the news that this Labour government is investing in the future of young people in West Lancashire. Our area will be receiving funding for a Youth Hub, to support local young people with their employment, education and training.

Last month, I wrote to Reform-led Lancashire County Council (LCC) to share the concerns about their performance on SEND that were raised at my roundtable. I will continue holding LCC to account to ensure they improve their SEND provision in West Lancashire.

I’m pleased to announce new funding through the Labour Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner’s MP Fund. £50,000 is available for organisations to fund projects with local crime and safety outcomes. Funding is taken through the proceeds of crime and delivered into the community to prevent further crime and harm. This programme will support the delivery of the Police and Crime Plan for Lancashire 2024–2029, which focuses on four key priorities, all of which align closely with this Labour Government’s Safer Streets mission. …
