In other news, like 20 rikishi retired from sumo after this basho. That's kinda high. The most prominent I'd say is Wakatakamoto, the elder brother of Motoharu and Takakage. So no more dreams of the three of them being in makuuchi together..

Only 1 promotion to jūryō for #nagoyabasho2026 - Arashifuji - debuted in 2024 at makushita tsukedashi - he got a 5-2 at Makushita 2 last basho - so he was a shoo-in. He's one of the rikishi from Hak's Miyagino-beya which was folded into Isegahama-beya, hence the FoooJii ending shikona (ring name)

Wakatakakage is not a big talker and he kept his stern mask on for most of interview. Best line, where a crack showed in his exterior and he said “this morning, my kids told me, ‘go win it’” which the crowd loved #natsubasho2026
