“At least five EU nations — Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Denmark and Greece — are already in talks with third countries, mostly in Africa, to host "return hubs" on the model of Italy's detention deal with Albania.” www.npr.org/2026/06/02/n...

Canada’s rejection of Infantino’s motorcade shows that host states can still subject FIFA’s demands to domestic standards. If people cite FIFA’s host guarantees to say the US should bend immigration practice for FIFA, they cannot pretend those guarantees only cover cases like visas for referees.

Where is the Somali government in all of this? Why is FIFA expected to do its bidding?
You know what does my head in? That this FIFA will come to Africa and bully the very same nations it refuses to vouch for. And African leaders, because they have run down every sector of the economy, will allow it. For cheap legitimacy
