Terrible news. I worked as a visiting lecturer at Hertfordshire in 2021 and am thinking of all the great staff and students I encountered there. Hope the decision is reversed, but it’s depressingly indicative of the direction of travel in British higher education.

Just flown past Saint John, New Brunswick, as distinct from my final destination, St. John’s, Newfoundland. The Atlantic Canadian province in between, Prince Edward Island, was formerly known to Europeans as St. John's Island. Hope that’s clear.
