A sad day. Jorge Sarmiento, one of the greats in ocean science, passed away today. Jorge was a model leader; thoughtful, compassionate, and an excellent scientist. His leadership of @soccomproject.bsky.social transformed @bgc-argo.bsky.social into a global system.

🌊 @globaloceanbgc.bsky.social GO-BGC float of the month. El Niño is coming. The 2023/24 event is clear in the @bgc-argo.bsky.social record. The white, 29C contour outlines anomalies in pCO2, NO3, chlorophyll and particulate organic carbon. Those white contours are emerging again. Stay tuned.
