I worked in Bradford as an archaeologist in the 1990 & I remember seeing a huge Hockney art work at Salts Mill that he had faxed to the city one A4 page at a time. It seemed so revolutionary then & in a way it still does www.latimes.com/archives/la-...

With UK universities slashing budgets and doing redundancies left and right, I am really worried about the survival of many of the digital projects that were funded in the past decade or so, many of which were already a miracle that they were being maintained after all this time.

iSpot is a citizen science project for identifying biodiversity in the UK (similar to the US-based iNaturalist). It was closed down yesterday with just over a week's notice because The Open University can no longer support it. Just another UK university infrastructure slowly falling apart.
