Cork Harbour is renowned for being a safe haven for ships, a tradition that is embodied in the city’s motto “Statio Bene Fida Carinis”.
Outside of its protective embrace, however, the perils of a rocky coast and open ocean have inspired both caution and artistic responses.
David Hockney (1937-2026)
We are so deeply saddened to learn of the passing of a true artistic giant. David Hockney made an indelible mark on visual culture, imbuing his pictorial work with vibrancy, playfulness, keen observation, and his own sexuality.
