I've written an essay in today's FT Weekend about why - and how - people are shaking off the feeling of being "frozen" in front of a "tusnami", and beginning to fight for the future they want. as.ft.com/r/cfa87609-8... (some free clicks here!)

The real question is not what the technology can do but what it ought to do. Sarah O’Connor on the people fighting for the future of work
Great article, and more evidence, especially in this section, of the argument that it’s easier to envisage the end of the world than it is the end of capitalism.
Looks like we've passed peak academia.

I feel like small matters such as “selling off most of the things that help governments to make themselves useful, out of pure hardcore ideological conviction” and “a pathological loathing for investment in services and infrastructure” may also have contributed

Yesterday Kier Starmer announced Labour will nationalise British Steel, and save 2700 jobs.
Today, the Uni of Nottingham put 2700 staff at risk of redundancy.
This is just one university.
Across the UK 15,000 higher education jobs need saving.
Where is the rescue package for our universities?
