A new moth for the Littlestone garden (SE Kent)
A beautiful fresh Pine Hawk-moth
It is very surprising after all these years garden moth trapping.

A blustery and showery night for moths in the Littlestone garden, SE Kent
Big drop off in numbers and variety compared to last 10 days
So the moth post will be my first Pearly Underwing of the year

A new moth for the Littlestone garden (SE Kent) last night was this striking micro moth
Eudonia delunella (Pied Grey)
Ancient woodland is the named habitat but this is more than likely to be a migrant
This is the 9th wider Dungeness recording area record

Update on Dungeness
4 pairs of Ringed Plover still have fluffy chicks running around
2 pairs are still incubating and a pair are still thinking about it
The Oystercatcher pair have lasted a week with their two eggs
Plus a Shelduck was seen with 16 ducklings heading inland - but no further sign
The patch of Sea Bindweed (Calystegia soldanella) near to the fishing boats, Dungeness is looking fresh and vibrant this early summer
The plant is found at Greatstone to the North (Kent) and to the west at Camber Dunes (Sussex) but this is the only patch on the Point

I’ve joined the club

It was in the actinic moth trap sandwiched between the water bins

There have been large numbers of Painted Lady butterflies across the peninsula at Dungeness the last week or so, after trying and taking many photos, I think I finally got a shot of one that I liked.
