Exactly. Anyone who wants to ensure this doesn’t happen again and that enforcement isn’t left up to random homegrown judges should be advocating for the players to unionize and sign a CBA with the conference or whatever org outlives the NCAA.
On one side are sports attorneys who don’t think the ruling in the Sorsby case will set a precedent. On the other are folks who are mad now but who will watch games this fall and never worry the outcome was compromised. I know which side I’m on the latest @ringer Tailgate!
Piddly little pro franchises regularly run the pockets of major U.S. cities and counties, so you know FIFA officials couldn’t wait to spit a little game at them. All these municipalities hosting FIFA games dropped their draws. www.nytimes.com/athletic/731...

Couldn't agree more. It's fundamentally not a part of the judge's job to "fix gambling in sports" somehow by throwing the book at the athlete in front of him. Further, if you think that the system is bad, you will never fix the system by targeting products of the system. Just fix the system!
